The Studley Showdown was created in 2024 to honour Serena Studley and the 1st annual event was held on October 5th with 52 ladies taking part. In 2025, we added The Stud Showdown for the men as they also wanted to pay tribute to a wonderful person we all loved dearly. Serena was a huge part of the pool community for almost 2 decades in HRM playing in fun leagues, the Mixed Metro League, on the ladies Metro League team and in any tournaments she could. She had an infectious personality, laugh and love for the game which led her to support any lady who she thought may need a little encouragement around the table or to get to a table. She was an absolute shining light to see in any pool hall and if you didn’t know her when you walked in, she’d be sharing a hug with you before too long. Serena passed away Dec. 30/2023 unexpectedly after a brief struggle with heart issues and we will celebrate her annually with this memorial event and by raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her honour.
